How does AI create video?
A video model has to create or change many connected images over time.
What is it?
Video models turn text, an image or another video into a sequence of frames that have to stay consistent over time: objects must not vanish and movement must make sense. Quality is improving fast, but errors are still common.
An everyday example
From the description “a dog running on a beach at sunset”, a model can produce a short realistic clip in minutes that nobody ever filmed.
Why does it matter?
Video is powerful evidence in public debate. When it can be made without a camera, checking where it came from matters even more.
A common misconception
That a clip proves an event happened. Moving images are not automatically a record of reality.
In more detail
What is harder than with a single image?
Keeping people, objects, movement and action consistent from shot to shot.
Can it create a completely made-up event?
Yes. It can show something that never happened, looking like genuine footage.
Can video generation be used responsibly?
Yes — in film, education and design — as long as it is clearly stated that the video is generated or substantially altered.
How do you check a suspicious video?
Find the original source, when and where it was made, and other independent evidence; looking at the images alone is not enough.
Remember: A moving picture is not automatically a recording of reality.
